Rishiri Town Museum
The Rishiri Town Museum features educational exhibits based on collecting, preserving, and researching Rishiri Island documents and artifacts. In addition to preserving documents and researching daily life on the island, the museum holds various exhibits, lectures, observation events, and publishes research bulletins. Inside, you'll find exhibits on Rishiri Island history and nature based on the theme of harmony between nature, the ocean, and people. Only the first floor is dedicated to permanent exhibitions, and a tour takes about 20 minutes. To preserve documentation and artifacts, animals, hazardous materials, and smoking are not allowed in the building. Some Rishiri-related documents from the museum's collection are on display in the lobby and viewing corner as well. Feel free to talk to the staff for the latest information, or if you would like to learn about documents, artifacts, and specimens that are not on display.
