The name of this spring literally translates from Japanese as “spring from the beautiful peak”, expressing the majesty of the mountain from which its water comes. The water is said to take 30 years to pass through the mountain terrain after falling onto Mount Rishiri as rain and snow. This natural filtration system means that the subterranean water contains an abundance of minerals.
