Momoiwa Observatory

Momoiwa Observatory is located on the popular Momoiwa Observatory Course walking trail. The wild plants around Momoiwa Rock are designated as a Natural Monument of Hokkaido, and the precious flowers and magnificent scenery are carefully protected. The trail from the ferry terminal to Momoiwa Observatory can be walked in about an hour and is a popular short hike with an abundance of alpine plants to enjoy along the way. In addition to a close-up view of Momoiwa Rock, the panoramic view from Momoiwa Observatory includes Nekoiwa Rock in the distance and Mount Rishiri across the sea, making this a popular spot among locals and visitors alike.
