Mt. Mikasa Tenbokaku Lookout

This spot is located about 10 minutes from the downtown area by car. Once you reach the summit of 172-meter-high Mt. Mikasa, you'll see a square white building that offers amazing 360-degree views of the Sea of Okhotsk. Inside Tenbokaku there is a café and lounge where you can enjoy a beverage while savoring the breathtaking scenery. Even amongst strangers, this magical spot somehow stimulates conversation that makes you feel like you're meeting old friends. At the lookout on the roof, you'll find the Bell of Hope, which rings out across the town. If you're lucky, you may even be greeted by a sea of clouds. Beautiful views of Esashi and a star-filled sky await nighttime visitors.
