Shiroi Koibito Hill

The photograph of Mount Rishiri featured on the packaging of Hokkaido’s famous Shiroi Koibito cookies was taken from this spot. The product name literally translates as “white lovers”, and couples who propose here can receive a “proposal certificate” from the Rishirifuji Town Tourist Association. The unobstructed panoramic view of Mount Rishiri brings many visitors to the area. This spot is a great location to enjoy the unique scenery of Rishiri Island, and fishermen and surf fishing boats catching the island’s famous sea urchin can often be seen out to sea. This is a scenic spot for a relaxing stopover on the way to Otatomari Marsh or Numaura Campsite, which are located nearby.
